I don't know why, but it's so much easier to come up with ideas for female characters.  Right now the gender gap between the characters is so lop-sided that my notebook falls off my desk.

Aside from the two introductory characters, the 'Archer & Tucker,' if you will, there are only two other male characters on the roster, and I don't think the android counts.  Let's just say he's not quite as fully functional as Data and leave it at that.  I may have an idea for one, but right now he's more of a Harry Mudd/Mr. Haney character.  I don't think he's the kind of person who'd be part of the ensemble.  He may surprise me, though.
